We are getting ready for the new date harvest and setting up procedures for our ranch in compliance to current health and safety requirements. We have to adapt to the new COVID-19 regulations. Masks and "social distancing" will be necessary.
We anticipate that we will have to change the way we sell dates. The yellow Barhis will be prepackaged by strands in bags and 15 and 30 pound boxes rather than set out in bulk on flat field trailers. We expect to be able to sell entire bunches from a display rack. Customers will not be able to tour the field and select their own bunch on the tree. Other varieties of dates will be prepackaged in 5, 11 and 15 pound boxes.
We are trying to minimize the number of people on site due to social distancing. We encourage that families arrange for one or two persons to pick up the dates for their family and friends.
For those who typically arrange for bus tours we suggest you pre-order and send a representative in a truck or van to make a bulk purchase and take it back to your customers. We will make sure we have the order ready on the arranged date and time.
The 2020 crop is looking good but we think it will be later than usual; probably after Labor Day. The yellow Barhis are typically the first to be available. Other varieties will be available later. If the variety you want is not ready when you visit, you can use our mail order option or come see us again! We will keep this website updated so you can follow the progress.
